Siglap is a residential sub-zone within the Bedok planning area located in the Eastern side of Singapore.  Siglap is a squarish area that is bounded by the Bedok and Kembangan MRT and stretches all the way South to the East Coast beach.

Siglap is more known for its landed housing enclaves. People who stayed in the Siglap condos will identify themselves as staying in the East Coast, since most the condos are lined along the East Coast beach. As Siglap is a relatively matured estate, there are no empty plots of land for developing new condominiums. Many are looking forward to the enbloc of Mandarin Gardens, Neptune Court and Laguna Park, which are all 30 plus year old condos, in order to see new condo development in this area.

With the expected opening of the Siglap MRT station right in front of Laguan Park, that will bring a lot of transport options and liveability into the heart of Siglap residential area. Siglap offers a relatively sparse residential landscape as it is dominated by private landed housing. It does not have the high traffic or big malls, thus making it a relatively quiet area to live in.  Here are the pros and cons in buying a condo in Siglap – 

  • Great location: Siglap is just a stone throw away from both the East Coast park, Changi Airport and Changi Business District. The location is convenient for people working in the East.

  • Not many new condo developments: The last major launch in the Siglap area was the Seaside residences which was launched in 2017. No new condo is expected to launch in this area given that it is mainly a landed enclave.
